NetGalley review: The Doll's House
I received this book to give an honest review.
Another awesome book that has one of my favorite female detectives in it D.I. Helen Grace.
I love how Helen's mind works and she doesn't give up on a case, when she believes there is something more there she pushes to get her answers. In this story it is no different. When a young woman is uncovered on the beach Helen knows there is something up as this is someone who she hasn't heard of being missing. It seems this killer is on top of things as he knows how to keep the girls alive so no one worries about them.
Not only is Helen trying to solve a crime but she is also worried about her nephew, if you read the previous book you would know how he came into play. With everything going on it seems that Helen has people who are jealous of her and her success what will they do to end her career? Will it even be worth it.
We go back and forth between what Helen is doing to solve the murders and save Ruby, to what is happening to Ruby the young girl that has been kidnapped. Will Helen find her in time or will it be too late?
We have the same characters as before and we learn that Charlie is expecting but that doesn't stop her from helping Helen when she is called to. I find this series to be interesting especially since we are always dealing with serial killers something new each time. To what is going on within Helen's life and how she handles situations. I love this author's writing style and how he can capture your interest from the beginning to the end. Can't wait for Liar, Liar to come out.
What I have an issue with and I have had it in every book I have read by this author is the SWITCHING. When you are switching characters and what not please let it be known. There were a couple of times I didn't realize the character switch and the scene switched until I finished a few sentences and was like wow that isn't what I thought was going on, and I had to go back and re-read.
